Fashion Week Find: Madison Plus

In the midst of all of our Big Sexy reviews and plus size blogs, we’d like to bring you a great BOLD resource. Madison Plus is a vehicle to enable all women to feel confident in pursuit of their dreams.  Between their website featuring lots of plus sized brands, printed media, and blog posts from “The Dish,” they provide women of all shapes and sizes the ability to be fashionable.

Madisonplus.com was established in 2009 as a fashion blog. But, recently (January of 2011), it was re-launched as a plus sized fashion shopping mall! They provide a unique combination of the newest and hottest plus size fashion styles and tips.

Aimee Cheshire, the CEO of Madison Plus, entered the world of plus modeling in college and even appeared in the nude for her most memorable shoot for Marie Claire. She then began working in the plus industry upon graduation in product development and buying for plus sizes. It was from Cheshire’s personal and professional experience that the concept of Madison Plus was born.

“MP is a website for plus size women who are fashion savvy young professionals who don’t want fashion presented to them in a ‘dumbed down’ way,” says Aimee. “It’s a shopping site that brings the best of what’s currently in the plus size market to one site. I present the plus size world in a more positive light and promote confidence & fashion in its purest form…Madison Plus is a revolution, a  transformation, a place to feel welcome. I want the plus size woman to feel better about herself and feel included in the world of fashion – no longer a voyer, a participant. Fashion in its purest form is not about being skinny it’s about finding clothes that fit you. That is what allows you to feel good about yourself. I want to be the mother hen who leads my plus ladies to the promised land of fashion.”

Wow, that’s so inspirational. We’ve got a great interview lined up with Aimee of Madison Plus. But, in the meantime, go check it out at www.madisonplus.com. Treat yourself! After all, it is Fashion Week, right? ;)
